Were you using Google code for hosting your project files or downloads? If yes, then there is a bad news for you that Google Code is going to stop new file uploads by January 15th, 2014. After January 15th, you will be unable to create any new download for your project. For new accounts and previous accounts, which don’t have any downloads, the upload feature has been disabled already. For other accounts, with active downloads, the feature will be no longer available after Juary 15th next year.
Although the previous downloads will remain intact in the system, but Google has recommended project owners to move their files to any alternate source like Google Drive before the due date (January 15th, 2014). If you are a project owner and hosting your files at Google Code, you can read this article for help on moving your project files to Google drive.
Google Code was a brilliant service for hosting codes and other project files and it is extremely sad to hear that Google is going to stop this service. But the decision has been taken due to the huge file uploads for other purposes than the actual purpose for what Google Code was established. Due to misuse of Internet users and to protect the stability of Google services, the decision has been taken to to stop new uploads. Although it is sad to know about this upcoming change, but it was necessary to cut down the attempts of irresponsible people who used Google Code hosting as a cloud for their downloadable files.
So sad. 🙁
